February 6: International Day for Safer Internet
The International Day for Safer Internet will be celebrated for the fourth time on February 6, 2007. For the first time Bulgaria was invited to take part in this event in 2005. In 2006 thirty seven countries throughout the world took part in the celebration.
The International Day in 2007 will be marked by four initiatives: a blogathon; a school competition; a TV spot and an on-line magazine.
The motto of the web based marathon (blogathon) is "To Cross the Frontiers". The blogathon will be started by the Eurocommissioner Viviane Reding. Each participating country will have a time span to publish news about its activities supporting the safer use of Internet by children. Bulgaria will have one hour from 11:00 to 12:00 AM.
The coordinator of the Bulgarian participation in 2007 is the State Agency for Information Technology and Communications (SAITC).
SAITC invites to this event all organizations willing to present their activities in the field of making Internet a safer place for children using texts, images or sounds. The Blog will be open for comments during one week.
