Challenging the health reform in Bulgaria: advocacy campaign to include reporoductive health services in the social security payments
Goals of the project
To raise the awareness of decision-makers on the situation of reproductive health of women;
To provoke a discussion on the need of inclusion of reproductive health and family planning services in the social security payments;
To convince the decision makers to look for the resolution of the demographic crisis in a proactive way by launching prevention and information programs for adolescents, which will eventually decrease the incidence of teen-age pregnancies and increase the trust in family planning services.
Parliamentarians, representatives of the Ministry of health, Ministry of labor and social policy, Ministry of finance, Ministry of Education, doctors from maternity hospitals, journalists, teachers, women activists from women’s rights NGOs.
The project makes the bridge between ICPD commitments from Cairo, the Beijing Platform for action and the Millennium Development Goals in the field of women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights.
GERT produced a detailed factsheet on different aspects of women’s reproductive health and rights within the project.
